Parkure will be exhibiting and presenting at Engage, Invest, Exploit at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh this Thursday 8th of May, 2014.
Engage, Invest, Exploit (EIE) is Scotland’s premier annual investor event which showcases the best companies spinning out of Scotland’s world class universities. Parkure is one of only 60 companies that were selected to exhibit at the event.
Over the course of the day, companies are given the opportunity to pitch, demonstrate and discuss their business with over 180 investors. Between networking sessions there are presentations from selected companies and talks from world class speakers.
Parkure is a Scottish drug discovery company based in Edinburgh and its mission is to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease. The company has developed a fast and cheap way to test a large number of chemicals, increasing the probability of success. The technique is scalable and has the potential to screen very large numbers of chemicals, we are limited only by financial constraints.
Parkinson’s disease currently affects 1 in 100 people over 60 (predicted to be ~2bn by 2050, based on UN data) and costs the NHS ~£2bn per year. Parkure’s CEO, Lysimachos Zografos, points out that Parkure is taking a novel approach to fighting the disease;
“The biology of Parkinson’s disease is complex and well-established drug development approaches currently used by the pharmaceutical industry have not worked so far. Parkure is taking a different approach – to use a brain affected by Parkinson’s disease to test treatments.”
The Parkinson’s disease drug market is worth $3 billion per annum and Parkure is keen to secure investment. Our CEO will be attending EIE this Thursday, please drop by our stand if you would like to find out more.
